Top 3 tips for shopping in a bulk food store

Woo hoo, you're ready to shop in a bulk food store, hopefully we'll see you in Unpackaged!

1. Take note of what you need before you've even left home.

Yep, check those cupboards. Need more flour, pasta, laundry detergent?

Grab some jars, containers, cloth bags - as many as you may need (probably more...you never know what you'll find in the store that will grab your eye!)

2. Tare the jars once you get in-store.

Taring is simply noting how much your containers weigh before you fill them up.

This ensures you only ever pay for the weight of your goods, and not the containers.

3. Fill up those jars!

Nuts, pasta, lollies, shampoo...buy as much, or as little, as you need.

Make sure you note down the product codes and then head over to the checkout. The staff will add it all up, then you are on your way.

Extra tip

Check out what's new in the store. Every bulk food store is bringing in something new for customers all the time. This is a great opportunity to try out new foods, a new cleaning product, or a new environmentally friendly product.
