Storing Food - Caravan & Camping Tips
It’s time to get the caravan organised and prepare those camping bags.
No matter if it’s glamping, camping, caravanning, holidays away or holidays at home - our food storage tips will keep your food fresh for your trip away.
Use What You Have
There’s no need to buy any new containers, you probably have everything you need already….or we do!
Plastic containers. Go through your cupboards, your Tupperware, your second-hand shop and Unpackaged. Storing in plastic containers is ideal for camping and caravanning. the last thing you need is broken glass through the campsite.
Pegs. The perfect bag clips and double up for your washing!
Plastic bags - not gonna lie here, we don’t like them. But we understand that if you are able to use them quite a few times and then RedCycle them then it’s better than buying new products each time.
Beeswax wraps. You can make snazzy little bags from these, use them to wrap cut fruit and veg, use them in your fridge as well. Beeswax wraps are awesome all-rounders.
Keep it simple
Only pack what you REALLY need
Leave the extra packaging at home. Put the plastic bags in Redcycle, the cardboard and glass jars in your recycling bin.
Premix before you go. Spices, trail mix, lollies. Grab some of our Pancake mix ready to just add your wet ingredients.
Do you REALLY need 4 different types of loose leaf tea? Can you narrow it down to 1 or 2?
Only buy (or take) what you NEED. You probably won’t need 500 grams of mixed herbs for a weekend.
Shop online with us and have your products delivered to your next caravan park stop! Just buy as much, or as little, as you need.
Support local businesses. Buy your food along the way and there’s no need to worry about long-term storage.
Holidays are a time to enjoy yourself, relax and experience the world around you.
Don’t get disheartened if your plastic-free or zero-waste journey hits some bumps along the way.
Don’t forget to Redcycle wherever you can and make good choices!
