We love the South East of SA, itβs where our store is located and we have so many brilliant local businesses we get to deal with. One of those businesses is San Piero Coffee Roasters.
The superstars at San Piero even created a special coffee blend just for our customers!
Owner and Master Roaster, Pete, is a Mount Gambier local who started out slinging brews at community events such as markets and footy games. Eight years of careful roasting, sharing, loving, and perfecting resulted in the bricks and mortar shopfront he had always dreamed of. Working alongside the skilled hand of his daughter and chef Mia, the San Piero family has expanded by four and continues to grow. Their values lie strongly in supporting locals wherever possible, knowing their customers by name, and providing exceptional coffee every time. Be sure to stop by their store when youβre next in Mount Gambier.
This coffee steak rub is a simple and elegant way to spruce up your dinner and is easy to make.
Ingredients:
500 grams of steak
2 tbsp finely ground Unpackaged coffee beans (as finely ground as possible)
2 tsp coconut sugar (can omit for Keto)
1 tsp sea salt flakes
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp mustard powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1/4 tsp chili powder
Creating The Magic:
Combine all seasoning ingredients in a bowl and mix together.
Generously sprinkle the steak all over on both sides with the coffee spice rub and gently massage it in. Let steak stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, prepare a grill for direct cooking over high heat.
Cook steak directly over the flame, flipping halfway through cooking until well browned. This is about 3 minutes per side to cook a thin steak medium-rare. Adjust cooking time accordingly depending on the thickness of your steak and desired doneness.
Transfer the steak to a carving board and let rest for at least 5 minutes. Slice the steak across the grain and serve.
