Top tips for cutting plastic from your life

Plastic is literally everywhere you look - food containers, medical waste, clothing, toys, you name it and it probably comes wrapped in plastic.

Reducing the plastic in your life won’t happen overnight - but it will happen.

Do I need to buy all those whizz-bang reusable items?

Keep cups, reusable shopping bags, bamboo cutlery, jars, water bottles, lunch boxes…..

NOPE. Use what you already have. You absolutely do NOT need to buy anything at all to start your journey with less plastic in your life.

See our top 3 tips for easily cutting plastic from your life.

Tips:

Say no to the plastic cutlery and straw when you get takeaway.
You don’t even need fancy reusable cutlery for this one, the old fork in your kitchen drawer does the job at home so why not when you are out and about too?
If you simply cannot function without a straw then grab a stainless steel or bamboo one - reuse it and the world will love you.

Buy your fruit & veggies NAKED.
Not you - the produce!
Amazing things these fruit & veggies, they all come with skin or coverings that can be washed, so you don’t need to have them in plastic wrap. Give them a quick rinse when you get home and voila fresh fruit & veggies and no bags hanging around for 600 years to decompose.

                  Plastic Free Lunchboxes.
Give it a go, just start with 1 day a week where you pack your lunch without ANY plastic. No plastic wrap, no small plastic-wrapped biscuits…use up all that plastic Tupperware sitting in your cupboard (or get some 2nd hand from your local op-shop or online marketplace).
Lacey, our nutritionist guru, recommends fresh or dried fruits, occasional foods like pretzels or rice crackers or small pieces of quality chocolate.
