Say Goodbye to Plastic this Year

On average, Australians use 130 kg of plastic per person each year.

Only 9% of that's recycled.

Plastic, it’s just everywhere you turn. What makes it worse is that plastic NEVER goes away. It’s here FOREVER.

Your great-great - great-great-great-great-great grandkids will still be dealing with your plastic rubbish from today.
”Oh check that bag out….Grandma used to eat salted peanuts”.
Not cool.

Make 2021 the year that you start creating habits that’ll stick with you for your lifetime - and help the planet, your wallet and potentially your health.

We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly. – Anne Marie Bonneau aka The Zero Waste Chef

Quick Tips for creating a life with less plastic:

  1. Bulk shopping - take your own containers. Reduce plastic + save $$

  2. Keep a few old jars to use in your local bulk food store.

  3. Use reusable produce bags -stop putting the fruit and veggies in plastic bags, take your own reusable bags and save 100s of plastic bags a year!

  4. Ditch the tea bags. Purchase loose leaf tea and use a tea strainer or reusable tea bag.

  5. Take a reusable bread bag to the bakery for your bread.

  6. Use vinegar instead of fabric softener. Save on plastic, clean your washing machine at the same time, and trust us - there is no vinegar smell!

  7. Fill up your existing jars or containers with laundry powder, dishwashing tablets, liquid soap and more. No more need to have countless plastic bottles of cleaning products.

  8. Bamboo toothbrush handles can be composted (or put in your green waste bin) after use = no plastic in landfill!

  9. Skip the shopping bag - take your own, or just carry your purchases.

  10. Start small - as you finish using an item that comes in plastic replace it with a bulk store purchase or DIY.
