CHOCOLATE PLAYDOUGH (EDIBLE)

This play not only smells AMAZING and CHOCOLATE-Y. but you don’t need to stress if the kids get it in their mouths.
Get the kids to join in on mixing the ingredients together and create this awesome playdough.

You’ll need:

2 cups plain flour - you can use Gluten-Free Plain Flour if you like
1/2 cup cacao powder
1/2 cup fine table salt
3 TBSP oil (vegetable, olive, rice bran - whatever you have in the pantry)
1.5 cups boiling water

Put all the ingredients into a large bowl and stir, stir, stir until a ball of dough starts to form. Let it sit for a couple of minutes until it’s cool, then put the dough onto your counter and knead.
Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks. If the dough starts to go dry add in a couple of extra drops of oil and knead together again.

TAPIOCA SENSORY SAND

Colourful and jiggly, this sensory sand is made from standard tapioca pearls.

You’ll need:
Tapioca Pearls
Water
Superfood Powders or food colouring

Divide your tapioca pearls into a few small bowls - about 2 TBSP per bowl. Cover with warm water and add in 1/4- 1/2 TSP Superfood powder or food colouring.
Stire to combine. Leave them to soak for about 30 minutes.

Try these colours:
TURMERIC = Yellow
MATCHA = Pastel green
BEETROOT = Pink
CHARCOAL = Grey/Black

SNACK NECKLACE

We are drooling just thinking about these snacks…so we are sure your kids will love making (and eating) them too.

You’ll need:
A piece of twine or wool - long enough to go around your child’s neck and be moved about to eat snacks from
Snacks that can be strung on the twine - NutriGrain, Pretzels, Jelly Fruit Rings, Apple Rings

The kids need to thread the snacks onto the necklace.
If you have older kids, let them poke holes in foods to create thread-able snacks (i.e. dried apricots, pawpaw, mango, sultanas (for super fine motor skill development), red frogs.)

EDIBLE FINGER PAINTS (TODDLER APPROVED!)

These finger paints are SUPER EASY to create and only need 2 ingredients!
Perfect for toddlers, or any child that loves to stick their fingers in their mouth. This recipe is completely toxin-free and tastes good too.

You’ll need:

Plain or Greek-style yoghurt
Superfood powders - Blue Spirulina, Beetroot, Match Powder, Acai Berry

In a few different bowls (or straight onto the high chair table) put a few dollops of yoghurt. Mix in 1/4 tsp of superfood powder.
Blue Spirulina = Blue Paint
Matcha = Green Paint
Beetroot Powder = Pink
Acai Berry = Purple

Let the kids go crazy painting with these yoghurt paints.

EDIBLE CHIA SLIME

Gloopy, stretchy but not sticky, this slime is a great way to keep the kids entertained for an afternoon.

You’ll need:
1/4 cup chia seeds
2 cups of water
1 tsp agar agar
450-500 grams Cornflour
1/2 tsp Blue Spirulina

Put the water, blue spirulina and chia seeds in a container with a lid (Sistema or Tupperware are great). Mix together quickly and then ut in the fridge for 12-24 hours.
Stir the mix at least once during this time to break up any lumpy bits.

Put the chia seed mix into a larger bowl, break up any clumps and add in the agar-agar. Mix together, it may still stay a bit lumpy so don’t stress - we will get the umps out shortly.
Add in 450 grams of cornflour and stir. Eventually, you’ll find it easier to knead with your hands than mix with a spoon.
Add in 1 TBSP of cornflour at a time from now on until it’s able to be moved as one.

If the mix is crumbly add in 1 TSP of water at a time until you get the consistency you’re after.
Store the mix in an airtight container in the fridge. When you pull it out it will be dense, add in 1-2 TBSP of water at a time to get it to a fluid state again.
